After the astounding response received by the RAZR series, Motorola have launched its second wave of mobile phones with an aim to strengthen their portfolio with high preforming phones. Models from the new RAZR series are loaded with all up to date technologies while maintaining the same slim casings - the RAZR family's USP. One of such model of this updated series is the Motorola RAZR V9. The handset does not differ much in terms of design from RAZR V8, however, it boast of embedded 3.5G technology. Though the Motorola RAZR V9 is not the first Motorola handset to include HSDPA (3.5G) technology, it certainly is, their best effort till date.
The Motorola RAZR V9 is about 2 mm slimmer than the original RAZR model despite being loaded with so many tools and applications. The glamorous clamshell is quite well built with stainless steel casing around an internal chassis to make the handset tough and strong. A protective cover safeguards its external screen. The 2.0 inch screen with touchscreen and haptic feedback is probably the best external screen used in any clamshell handset till date. Internal screen is marginally larger with same screen resolution and colours. Metal etched, flat keypads have been a tread mark of all RAZR phone. The Motorola RAZR V9 is no exception.
Functionally, the Motorola RAZR V9 is among the elite group of 3.5G phones. Integrated HSDPA technology of the mobile phone can support maximum download speed of up to 3.6Mbps. Other than voice network coverage across all corners of the globe, the handset supports UMTS (3G) networks for high speed data connectivity needed for data intensive functions like video calling, multi player game playing or swift downloading. In absence of 3G network, one can fall back to 'traditional' ways of mobile internet connectivity - GPRS and EDGE. The handset also boasts of a 2.0 megapixel camera and a multi format compatible media player with external touchscreen media control keys.
